Senior Civil Structural Engineer, South Africa

The Senior Civil Structural Engineer’s position involves responsibility for the efficient production of designs, studies and reports in accordance with project time, budget and technical requirements and requires design management, administration, technical assistance and mentorship of the junior engineers.

Requirements:

·       Bachelor of Civil / Structural Engineering

·       Eligibility or membership of ECSA is essential.

·       10 + years experience in technical role in Civil / Structural plant design

·       Experience with earthworks / bulk earthworks

·       Experience with infrastructure / roads

·       Experience with reinforced concrete structures within process plant environment to support tanks and other heavy structures

Responsibilities:

·       Ensure the information flow to drafting and other disciplines serves to maximize output

·       Allocate tasks and assist other engineers to balance demands of time, budget, technical complexity and training requirements.

·       Ensure designs are technically appropriate, correct and in accordance with applicable standards and specifications.

·       Manage and administer the design effort and control for compliance with an agreed QA plan / procedure.

·       Liaise with other discipline engineers / draughts persons to achieve optimum sequencing of design effort of structural/civil discipline so as to minimize rework while achieving time and budget goals.

·       Provide structural input into the design effort of the mechanical department so as to achieve early input of structural requirements into the designs.

·       Liaise and coordinate with Projects to ensure that project criteria are considered in scheduling of work.
